Anybody else excited about this remake? "It" is one of my favorite horror
movies of all time and one of the few that actually scares me. I loved how they
captured the naive and innocent mind of a child and their irrational fears. They
managed to make a not so scary thing like clowns, into fucking-frightning-
nightmare-fuel. I really hope this new one does the same and to a degree
stays true to form.
Anybody else with me? Thoughts? Gonna go watch the remake? I plan to go
watch it sometime this week.
"IT" is one of my avorite novels, and perhaps my all time favorite of Stephen King. The original made for TV movie was certainly fun when I was younger, before I red the novel and realized how ... dummed down it was in comparison. I tried watching it recently after another reading of the novel (I've red it three times now) and to me, it didn't really hold up. Maybe I've just seen the movie too many times. Perhaps is speaks to the movie's credit that I have in fact seen it so many. Anyway, I was skeptical of the movie, but having seen the trailer for myself, and red some of the reception, even from King himself I'm willing to give it a try. I'll probably wait until I can rent it on ITunes, hopefully with audio description. Not that I wouldn't go see it in theatres, but I don't really bother going to the theatre alone, and there's no way in Pennywise's big puffy buttons my wife wil want to see that one.
Always liked the novel, I had it on tape way back when.
Read the novel, and have seen the original movie. It's cheesy as hell (the movie, I mean), but Tim Curry did a freaking brilliant job. Overdone in places, but he still did a great performance. It was bad enough that some of the actors didn't want to hang around with him. He liked staying in character.
Really do want to see the remake though, if I get the chance. I've heard bad things about the Dark Tower movie, but many good things about the It remake, so yeah.
Having seen the "IT" remake in theaters, I would have to say that it's definitely a worthwhile see. It's one of those movies where I actually did expect a lot from it, and got everything I hoped for and more. I'd definitely recommend going to see it. Usually, remakes are worse than the originals, but this one was at least on par with the original, in my opinion.
